The best of Slovenia ,Lake Bled and Postojna Caves

Slovenia

Slovenia is, for me, one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, it is very green, it is impeccable, it is a “silver cup”.

My connection to Slovenia comes from childhood, my dad’s best friend and his wife came from Slovenia, we shared many weekends, vacations and trips with them and their children, they were like family, so when I arrived in that country I felt Special, many meals were familiar to me and I knew about traditions and some nonsense like saying Lahck noc (good night) before going to sleep.

I decided to sleep in Ljubljana the capital of Slovenia and spend a day in Lake Bled, iconic symbol of this country, which is close to the border with Austria, but when I got there I realized that I had made a mistake, that area deserves to stay more than one day, there are many outdoor activities and it is so beautiful that I did not want to leave, The symbol of the city is the church in the middle of the lake and the castle that is at the top of the hill.

I went in the typical boats of the place to the island in the middle of the lake, there are people who swim, but you have to be very brave because the water is very cold, not only visiting the church is the tradition but eating a sweet called Kremsnita , that of course a sugar addict like me could not let go. There is no more dangerous area in the world for someone who loves sweets than Austria. Slovenia and neighbors.

After visiting the lake I went up to the castle, it has a spectacular view, you can see it in the photos, it’s very nice, they sell natural honey and you can see a reconstructed Gutenberg printing press, they print and sell what you want with a very beautiful paper handmade, and guess what, another dessert, and this time a cake of layers of cream that I forgot to write the name, sorry

But not because of the overdose of sweets, as you can see in the photos the area of the lake is a spectacular place and the n.1 of my favorite in this country, the second that I liked the most was the Postojna caves.

Slovenia is a country full of caves, they call it the Enmental cheese.
The Postojna caves are immense and are part of the Unesco world heritage. It is very organized, and when you get there you make lines by language that you speak, from I passed to a train area. Like a playground, they take you to the center of the caves, even so I walked inside them like an hour and a half, really big, you have to be warm they are really cold inside, but I was not wearing anything, the good thing is They rent you some ponchos for unprepared people like me.

On the road almost reaching the caves there is a beautiful castle, called Predjama, I loved visiting it, it is very beautiful, it is on a cliff and you see it in half an hour, highly recommended, and guess what, another stop, another sweet.
